QCPD braces up for Holy Week, Sumvac

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

The upcoming Holy Week and summer vacation may seem to be a time to relax or unwind for many of our fellowmen but not to the city’s more than two thousand five hundred police force as it announced its security preparations.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Benjardi Mantele said “Our policemen literally have no summer vacation, as we have had in the past years and during other holidays, in order to watch over the city’s security and order against criminal elements who might take advantage of the occasions.”

He said, this coming Lenten season and summer vacation, we will maximize troop deployment and police visibility especially in the streets and to places where people mostly frequent to ensure public safety, with other force multipliers like the Barangay Security Development Officers (BSDOs) who shall help us maintain peace and order.

We shall conduct 24/7 patrolling on foot, on motorcycles and on mobile patrol vehicles aside from the establishment of Police Assistance Centers in bus/jeepney terminals including our train terminals, PCSupt Mantele added.

The public is likewise advised to observe extra precautionary measures for their personal security and the safety of their dwellings especially if they go out-of-town during the Holy Week and summer vacation.

We received some reports of robbery and theft inside residential houses in the past perpetrated by akyat-bahay gang and other similar cases of burglary which could have been prevented if necessary precautions were undertaken by the home owner.

We therefore call on the public to be vigilant and to report to the nearby police station any presence of suspicious persons in their area for our prompt action.###
