A jobless 29-year old male who tried robbing a taxi driver with an unidentified cohort got his come-uppance and is now languishing in detention at the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 6 in Batasan Hills.

Ramon A. Aribal, Jr., 20 years old, single, jobless, of 19 Holy Spirit Drive, Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City was arrested by patrolling elements of QCPD Station 6 after being cornered by taxi drivers and bystanders who foiled his escape. His unidentified accomplice, however, eluded capture.

In a report to newly-installed QCPD director, Police Chief Superintendent Mario O Dela Vega, Station 6 commander Police Superintendent Ronnie Montejo said that Aribal was apprehended after allegedly robbing Nestor H. Depetilla , 36 years old, married, of BF Road in the same barangay, driver of a Reno Taxi bearing plate No. TXC-319.

Depetilla narrated to the police that he was flagged down by the suspect and his unidentified cohort, on the south lane of Commonwealth Avenue, and was asked to take them to Tandang Sora.

Reaching Feria Road, the suspects poked a knife at him and divested him of his earnings. The suspect passed the money to his companion and both alighted and fled.

Depetilla sought the help of other taxi drivers and some bystanders who all chased the suspects.

The posse collared only the suspect. His accomplice managed to get away. As patrolling officers PO1Alrashid Albain and PO1 Ricardo Gonzales drove by, they noticed the commotion and arrested the suspect who is now in custody awaiting inquest proceedings at the city prosecutors’ office.
